MISSION
The Footprints in the Sand Foundation (Federal Tax ID# 74-3075491) is a 501 c (3) non-profit, public charity organization dedicated to helping individuals less than 18 years old by giving them an opportunity to participate in group or one-on-one therapy to cope with a death, illness or divorce. Our goal is to promote mental health to enable people to truly live their life to the fullest, and to treat those who are affected.
The organization was founded in 2003 by the Villafranco Family to memorialize the death of William Ryan Villafranco.

- Consumed or overwhelmed dealing with their diagnosis or the diagnosis of their loved one
- Struggling with facing treatments and side effects both physically and emotionally
- Coping with grief from a recent death
- Feeling depressed
- Dealing with a mental ailment
- Dealing with a developmental ailment
- Struggling with a recent divorce
- Dealing with substance abuse or alcoholism
GRANT CRITERIA
To receive a grant from the Footprints in the Sand Foundation your child or children must:
Counseling is offered to those who do not have insurance or if your insurance does not fully cover your therapy. We will also help to cover co-pays where applicable. If you do not have a counselor you are currently working with, we will refer you to one of our recommended, licensed counselors.
*All recommended counselors are licensed consultants who specialize in youth services and are not paid employees of the Foundation.
- Live, worship or work in Bergen County, NJ or Rockland County, NY.
- Be under 18 years old
- Be coping with an illness, death or divorce.

HOW TO QUALIFY
To qualify for assistance you MUST complete our grant application (available on our website) and return it to our offices on Paragon Drive.
Grant requests will be reviewed at the end of each calendar quarter: March, June, September, and December.
All requests will be answered within 30 days of their review date.
If you are selected to receive a grant from the Footprints in the Sand Foundation you will be awarded a specific dollar amount based on the financial information you provide in your grant application supported by prior years tax returns & all other relevant financial information.
The grant will be paid by the Foundation directly to the service provider, NEVER directly to the grant recipient.
